Are you talking about high school or college? If high school definitely, get in touch with theprincipal or guidance counselor and ask away, you definitely have educational rights. Now if your talking about college, that would depend on how involved you were to begin with in the enrollment of your child. Are you listed on the papers, did you talk to the dean of the school to let them know the type of expectations you have for the school and for the child because you are the one coming up with some money... Some of this would also depend on the relationship you have with your child.. Some kids expect their parents to fork over money for college and then shut them out of their goings on... I say if your paying for all or part of college you should be in the loop at all times.. you work hard for your money and it should be being used to its full potential as much as your 18yr. old should be performing at their full potential in return.Dont be like many parents these days and let the child "do their thing" they still need and want our guidance no matter how much they say they don't.

In Nevada you need to financially prove to the court that you cannot afford to hire an attorney. If you do get approved for a court appointed attorney, you still have to pay attorney fees at a low monthly payment. I'm not sure if it is the same in Missouri.
