Energy cannot be destroyed but it can be transformed from one form to another. This means that it can be transformed from one form that is easy to use, such as electricity, to a less useful form such as ambient heat.

After the useful energy has been transformed it still exists but we cannot use it in any meaningful way. That is why we need to conserve it as the supply of useful energy is not infinite.

Because as time passes, stored chemical energy, which we've always used before, is being converted to heat energy (which we have a hard time efficiently capturing). The supply we're worried about is the stored, easily converted energy.

It comes down to technology

We currently can only usefully use about 33% of fossil fuel energy

We can split the atom but are so frightened that it is a bad thing we won't

We seem to be incapable of meaningfull funding of the Science that will get us out of this mess

But my bet is on all life being dead on this planet shortly before the Gulf of Mexico Boils.

Running out of energy is a moot point.

Yes because matter cannot be created or destroyed and mass is a property of matter. Therefore, mass cannot be created or destroyed.

no energy cannot be created nor destroyed but it can change form

Matter that is indivisible cannot be?

The law of conservation of mass states that mass cannot be created or destroyed. This is not strictly correct, as mass and energy can be inter-converted, as in nuclear reactions. Thus, 'mass and energy cannot be created or destroyed' is more accurate.
