Hello i am in grade 9 and we are currently covering this in my math unit. This will work in ANY case:
when you have a whole number you present it over one and when you have a percent, over 100, remember to make sure your fractions are cross reduced (in lowest terms). okay so...
remember to multiply numerators and multiply denominators.
70 x 5 (lowest terms) -- 70 x 1 = 70/20 20 goes into 70 3 times plus 10 left over
1 100 1 x 20
so, 3 10/20 is the same as $3.50
and tax would be adding on to the sale price, therefore $70.00 + $3.50 = $73.50
I hoped this helped you
Bye!
i did the problem and it was 3.50? some please EXPLAIN WHAT KIND OF MATH WE DOING NOW DAYS
$1.52
The total tax is $0.75 and the total price with tax is $10.75
Sales Tax / Sales Tax Rate = Gross Sale
The total tax is $4.95 and the total price with tax is $103.95.

Whatever percent of a dollar the sales tax for your state is, multiply that by the sale price for the amount of sales tax owed. example: sales tax = 5 cents on the dollar or .05 the sale price is $10,000.00 .05x10,000=$500.00
The total price with the discount and sales tax is: $55.64
The 7% sales tax on a $6.50 is 45 cents, increasing the cost to $6.95
The sales tax is $75.00, making the final cost $1,575.00
The total price with sales tax is $8.17
The final cost of a 180 camera on sale for 25 percent off and a sales tax of 7 is 142.
The total tax is $0.75 and the total price with tax is $10.75
The final price of the item, including the discount and sales tax, is: $73.44
5 percent is 5/100 = 0.05 19.99 x 0.05 = 0.9995 which rounds to $1.00
Sales Tax / Sales Tax Rate = Gross Sale
The total tax is $4.95 and the total price with tax is $103.95.
