If you are 13 years old and your IQ test score was 128 is that any good because most of your friends got between 80-100?

"Average" on an IQ test is, by definiton, 100. Anything above 100 is considered to be above average. Anything below 100 is considered to be below average. If your IQ is 128, you are capable of getting straight A's through college. An IQ of 128 is not considered to be a genius, but it's enough above average that about 80% of the world's population will have a score that is lower. You might want to cultivate some friendships with others who have high IQ's and are doing well in school. Those types of relationships can help you later in life and can help you learn more. Just a suggestion. Good luck and remember that with that ability, you can do just about anything that you want. I just looked this up because i just finished taking this IQ test and i got 128 too. Only difference is I am 12, but close enough right? My dad says it is good... his is 130 ish and he says to "protect that brain i have". Ok dad, got it. LOL, well congragulations, put your mind to a good use... don't let it waste! They tell me it is good, so Im just keepin my fingers crossed and hope i get into a good highschool!!!! LOL ;)-

From what I remember learning at school... IQ follows the natural curve. That means given the average score and the standard deviation we can begin to define what a good score is. The average for IQ tests, by design is 100. So, right off the bat we see that every score is above average, and therefore they are all good scores, relative to the mean. It doesn't matter what age you are, your score can be compared to anyone's. We also know the standard deviation for IQ scores is 15, so we can begin to quantify how good the scores are if we know how standard deviation works. We know that 50% of the people will score below 100. If we move one standard deviation better than the mean we get 115. That's better than 84% of people. 90% of people will score under 130 (two standard deviations better than average). 99.4% of people will score under 145 (three standard deviations). 99.99% score under 160 (four s.d) 99.99997% score under 175 (five s.d.) Any score will be relative to other children or adults of the same age. These tests are intentionally tested on children of different ages to discover what a "normal" child of a given age will score. The IQ score is how the individual did in relation to that normalized score. Anything over 100 is better than that age normed score and anything below 100 is below that normalized score.
