yes
No.The important point is that your body is at the same potential as the workpiece, and that is assured by having the work on the table mat and yourself connected to the table mat too.
If that is true, a floor mat serves no useful purpose.

Otherwise a discharge of static electricity can damage sensitive components.
3000 volts From ESD Association ESD Handbook ESD TR20.20 section 5.3.2.1: "When people are charged with static electricity, they can release stored energy to conductive objects such as doorknobs and electronic circuits. This transfer of energy is called an electrostatic discharge. Sometimes the electrostatic discharge causes visible sparks, but more often, it is both unseen and unfelt. Electrostatic discharges can damage ESD sensitive components used in modern electronics. Static electricity is a natural phenomenon that occurs in all climates and at all levels of relative humidity year round. Most people cannot feel an electrostatic discharge unless the static voltage is greater than 2000 volts. However, some electronic circuitry can be damaged by ESD that is less than 2000 volts. The damage can be done without people having any sensation of the ESD event. When a wrist strap is worn properly and connected to ground, the person wearing it will stay near ground potential."
do not touch any equipment that you dont know how it works follow the instructions very carefully of the experiment you are doing do not eat or smoke while doing practicals dont touch bare wires orconnections. make sure that you dont diassemble the components unless te supervisor tell you to do so.
A: When there is work to be done on sensitive assemblies or there is known hi voltage differential from a person to the circuits
The common type of electronics packaging is referred to as static protective packaging orelectrostatic discharge(ESD). Typical package types include static bags and corstat containers. ~According to what I know, there's the following:1. Dissipative Polybag - has the ability to dissipate a static charge to ground. This keeps charge (static electricity) from building up on the package or the device. This material is also antistatic, suggesting that it will not charge up (tribocharge) when rubbed against other materials.2. Conductive Polybags - the conductivity is about 103-2 and will dissipate a charge very fast. Unfortunately this fast dissipation also means that a charged person or object can 'spark' (ESD) to its surface.3. Shielding Bags - provide the dissipative and antistatic attributes of the poly bag but add a metal shield and polyester dielectric to sop static from entering the bag.4. Moisture Barrier Bags - it provides dissipation, antistatic properties static shielding and add a moisture vapor barrier. the moisture barrier protects moisture sensitive items and improves long term storage.Hope this can help...
Anti-Static Wrist Straps and mats are worn when, people need to use any tool or part of body to touch an electronic internaly. The wrist bands and mats have metal on the inside and sometimes outside to absorb the static electricity from your body. They must be connected to some kind of grounding object (usually via gator clamp) like a metel pole, power supply, ect.... If someone where not to wear one of these and touch a static or electric sensitive object like a motherboard for a computer, the static from your body could ark (jump) to the motherboard and couse it to fry or burn up.
static can kill almost any electronic device.
electronic signature device
A: CERTAINLY but if it the resistance is there there can be any ESD to begin with
hey
IT IS ONE OF THEM-- Electronic Software Distribution / Electronic Systems Development / Electrostatic Discharge
30 volts of ESD
To an electronic device, yes.
Ohm Meter
ESD or electro static discharge is harmful to electronic components because it can cause component overload similar to an electric shock
A circumstance that increases the likelihood of ESD damage to a computer is working in an area with low levels of humidity.
To not damage the computer components.
