You should remove the patches, with a gloved hand, before placing AED pads on patient. You should also wipe off the skin with a piece of cloth in order to make sure all of the medication is off of their skin.

Make sure EMS is on the way, check for responsiveness, open the airway, look listen and feel for air movement, if none, give two rescue breaths, look for signs of life, if none begin chest compressions. 30 compressions @ a rate of 100 per minute, to two breaths. do 5 cycles of CPR, or 30 compressions : 2 breaths X 5. only use 'child' AED patches on a child, do not use 'adult' patches. attach child patches, do not touch patient, follow prompts of the AED
