No and they shouldn't hit you for it,
1. it's rude
and 2. that's the wrong way to approach the situation.
Look, what you should do, if your not comfortable about telling someone like an adult or conselour, then talk to your friends.
But the only way you will stop is
- you'll really truelly want to
- you'll know it's not helping
- you'll stop
The only way to stop is to realize its not helping you, and you'll just stop. A lot of people say its an addiction, but really, in my opinion, it's not. It's just your calling out that you need help and each time you do it, you get worse. If you want to stop, you will, and you wont go back.

A friend of mine said it was pain that you could control unlike some other types of pain in their life that they couldn't control at the time. I can see where that might make sense, but that doesn't mean you have to continue cutting. A lot of things that might be causing you to cut can be dealt with in a better way.
