Yes. Only in the Kingdom of Sparta did women have a good level of equality and independence, although no 'political' rights. The other Greek States saw women as no more than the possession of first their father and later, their husband. There, they had no rights whatsoever.

They are not. There was only one city state in ancient Greece (Athens) that was very briefly a very limited form of democracy (only freeborn upperclass men). All other city states of ancient Greece were kingdoms or other authoritarian government systems.
