If someone literally hits you with the laser housing, yes, there's potiential that it could hurt. However if you're referring specifically to the laser beam itself, then no, it does not hurt. The lasers are a lower class of laser than those used for surgery or as a cutting tool. They're a lower class (i.e. lower intensity) than the typical laser pointer.

That said, I wouldn't recommend purposely firing the laser into your eye repeatedly.

so, if someone shoots u, it doesn't hurt at all. but if they hit u with the gun (like being pistol lashed) yeah, that hurts. The lasers basicaly a beam of light, whoch communicates with your sensors. so if it hits your arm, you won't even feel it. But dont shoot into anone's eyes(yes, including your own)

How do the lasers work in laser tag?

When a laser tag phaser fires a shot what you see is a laser beam. The laser beam is for affect only. What scores the actual hit or tag depends on the system in which you are playing )typically it's an IR or infrared signal), much like the kind used in your television remote control. While you are firing an actual laser in laser tag, the actual entity tagging an opponent's pack is typically an IR signal. Agree" sales(@)kitelaser.com The above answer is fairly accurate, however to be more specific, it's not Infra-Red signals that determine whether a tag is scored as much as it is FM signals, much like the frequencies used in radio. Disagree: I know for a fact that pure laser tag, without IR or FM first existed commercially in 1986 and used solar cells as receivers. Why it never really took off until recently I do not know. Laser Runner claims to be the only existing pure laser tag technology: http://www.lazerrunner.com/mod.php?mod=userpage&menu=13&page_id=30

What are the rules of laser tag?

What are the physics to a laser tag gun?

The "physics behind the laser tag" deals with the sub-field area of study known as Optics. Optics is the study of the behaviour and properties of light. It is a branch of the physical sciences. Sir Isaac Newton, the world renowned British physicist, wrote a book on the material labeled "Optiks," that was released to the public in 1704. Refraction is also a very significant concept when it comes to the "physics behind the laser tag." Refraction is the bending of light rays ( the laser of the laser gun in this case) as it passes between two different "medium" (2 medium makes up a "media"). The 2 medium in this case is the wall and the room adjacent to the wall. A good idea for introducing your class to this inter discipline of physics would be a PowerPoint or a practical science-fair themed like project with a Hypothesis and all that sort of stuff. Also, remember that a science paper project must be written in APA format (which shows subscripts and superscripts). It also must be very clear and concise, and all the concepts must be explained accurately.

How do you know when you got touched by laser tag games?

It depends on the Laser Tag system you're playing. Often times you know you've been tagged either by a vibration in the pack or a sound effect or voice letting you know you been tagged, or a combination of vibration and sound. Also, you won't be able to fire your laser for a predetermined amount of time after you've been tagged, typically one to five seconds.

What is the game of Laser Tag all about?

Laser tag is an interactive game wherein you wear what is typically known as a vest and carry a laser. Depending on the system in which you are playing, the vest and typically the laser have sensors and flashing lights where in the objective is to tag your opponents flashing sensors without being tagged yourself. You earn points every time you tag someone and lose points every time you are tagged. Some laser tag systems allow you to play only team games where it's one team vs. the other, while others allow you to play solo, team as well as specialty games.

How do you win at laser tag?

The point of the game is to tag your opponents without being tagged yourself. As with most laser tag systems, you wear a laser tag vest and carry a laser, both of which have flashing sensors on them which is what you're trying to tag. When you are tagged, you can't tag or be tagged for up to 10 seconds (this "downtime" is dependent on the system in which you are playing.) Some basic strategies are to always be looking to tag other players as typically you get more points for tagging a person than you lose for being tagged. Another recommended strategy is to keep moving so as to make it harder for others to tag you. With some systems, certain sensors are easier to tag than others, so if you really want to know, the best advice is to ask the employees of the laser tag facility what sensors are easier to tag than others. You can also play outdoor laser tag. The laser use infrared, just like your TV remote control, however it is more difficult to use these "store bought" systems in full daylight.

Will a laser pointer work at laser tag?

No it won't. Laser pointer simply emit a laser beam whereas laser tag systems use other methods to register tags. The laser in laser tag is for effect. The actual laser doesn't tag the pack.
