A:Nowhere in The Bible is Muhammad mentioned, either by name or in any way that he could truly be identified.

However, Burton L. Mack (Who Wrote the New Testament) says that there is a trick that seems to come naturally when studying the Bible. One can ask any question of the Bible and get some kind of answer. If the first answer does not appear to be helpful, one can look for another answer to the same question, until the right answer appears. This can be played by both Muslims and Christians for their own purposes. Some Muslims say that the Old Testament contains many references to the coming of Muhammad. Some Christians say that references to the "false prophets" of apostolic times, is really a warning of the coming of Muhammad.

A:The name Muhammad is not found in the bible.

I doubt it, since the Bible was put together a few hundred years before Muhammad came along.

Mohammed in the Bible

Christians believe that the Bible does not saying anything about Mohammed. For example, some argue that because Christianity predates Islam by about 500 years all theories about Mohammed in the Christian Bible are mere conjectures.

Muslims believe differently. The following is an explanation from an Islamic perspective.

According to the Bible God said to Moses: "I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him." (The Holy Bible, New International Version, Deuteronomy chapter 18, verse 18).

The prophet described in the above verse must have the following three characteristics: 1.) He will be like Moses. 2.) He will come from among the Israelites (be an Israelite). 3.) God will put His words in the mouth of that prophet and he will declare what God commanded him.

Here is the Islamic explanation of why this verse describes Mohammed:

1. The prophet like Moses

Christians feel that this prophecy refers to the Jesus. Muslims believe that although Jesus was truly a prophet of God, he is not the prophet spoken of here. He was born miraculously, and, finally, God raised him up miraculously. Jesus was like Moses in many ways - Moses brought the law and Jesus fulfilled the law. Contrast this to Muhammad who brought a law contradicting both. The lack of harmony is questionable.

2. From among the Israelites

Muhammad was brother of Israelites so this support his prophesy.

3. God will put His words in his mouth

Koran is the word of God and Muhammad's teatchings, laws and words were from the koran. which explain "God will put his words in his mouth"

The Islamic Research Foundation, as well as other Muslims, believe that Prophet Muhammad is mentioned in three scriptures in the Bible: Deuteronomy 18:18, Isaiah 29:12, and Song of Solomon 5:16. Christians do not believe those scriptures refer to Prophet Muhammad.

Thus, the issue of Prophet Muhammad being mentioned in the Bible is partially dependent on a person's core beliefs and how the scriptures are interpreted.

RESPONSE & ANSWER {from a Christian Viewpoint)

Muhammad is not mentioned specifically by name in the Bible, but he is mentioned both through his ancestors and through the actions of his descendants.

Regarding scripture references in above Answer

Christians believe that the three scriptures quoted in the above Answer do not refer to Mohammad.

".....Muslims, believe that Prophet Muhammad is mentioned in three scriptures in the Bible: Deuteronomy 18:18, Isaiah 29:12, and Song of Solomon 5:16....."

It is only fair to quote these verses in full below because just as most Christians do not have a copy of the Qur'an to check any references to it, so most Moslems do not have a copy of the Bible to check any Bible references. -

Deuteronomy 18:18 was written by Moses and refers to Jesus Christ (not Mohammad) :-

Deu 18:18 I will raise up a prophet like you for them from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth and he will speak to them whatever I command.

Isaiah 29:12 was written to the Jews (not Mohammad) :-

Isa 29:12 Or when they hand the scroll to one who can't read and say, "Read this," he says, "I can't read."

Song of Solomon 5:16 was written by Solomon about a Jewish woman (not Mohammad):-

Son 5:16 His mouth is very sweet;

he is totally desirable.

This is my beloved!

This is my companion, O maidens of Jerusalem!

Abraham's non-jewish descendants

Although the names of a person's descendants change, the name of their ancestors do not. In Bible prophecies a nation is not called by it's current name because that changes, but instead is called by the name of its ancestor or founder.

For example, despite being known as 'Persia' for thousands of years, in 1935 its name was changed to 'Iran', but it is still the same country. This means Bible prophecies applicable to today referring to 'Persia' actually mean 'Iran' today.

Abraham's eldest son was Ishmael:-

Gen 25:12 The Sons of Ishmael

This is the account of Abraham's son Ishmael,1whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's servant, bore to Abraham.

Gen 25:13 These are the names of Ishmael's sons, ... Nebaioth (Ishmael's firstborn), Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

Gen 25:14 Mishma, Dumah, Massa,

Gen 25:15 Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.

Gen 25:16 These are the sons of Ishmael, ...- twelve princes according to their clans.

These 12 tribes are known as 'Ishmaelites' because they are descendants of Ishmael. They are basically the Arabs of today. (NB Persians are not Arabs!)

Abraham's younger son was Isaac he had two sons: Jacob(aka Israel) and Esau.

Abraham's grandson was Esau. He married one of his cousins, so she was an Ishmaelite.

Gen 28:9So Esau went to Ishmael and married Mahalath, the sister of Nebaioth and daughter of Abraham's son Ishmael, along with the wives he already had.

'Esau' is also known in the Bible as 'Edom' :-

Gen 36:1The Descendants of Esau

What follows is the account of Esau (also known as Edom).

Esau's descendants are known as Edomites.

When the Romans conquered the land of Edom they called it 'Idumea', and appointed Herod as a vassal king. Herod was not a jew: he was an Idumean or Edomite, and was an enemy of the jews.

So, Abraham's non-Jewish and non-christian descendants are variously known as the Ishmaelites, Edomites, and Idumeans.

According to Muslim tradition Muhammad was an Ishmaelite descended from the tribe of Kedar, but there is no proof of that [see Halabieh I, page 36]. What is known is that Muhammad's forebears and followers are anti-semitic, that is, anti-jewish and anti-christian.

Beheading a sign

In The Past

Although in the past the Roman Empire beheaded citizens (such as the Christian Saint Paul), and French revolutionaries used the guillotine to decapitate opponents, in contrast the sanctioned method of execution in Islamic nations is only by beheading.

-King Herod was an Idumean [that is, an Edomite] and hated the Jews.

Christ was a jew, and Herod tried to kill Christ when He was an infant, but failed:-

Mat 2:13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child [Jesus] and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

Mat 2:14 When [Joseph]arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

Mat 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: ...

Mat 2:16 Then Herod, ... was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, ...

Herod was complicit in successfully killing Christ when He was an adult:-

Luk 23:7 When [Pilate]found out that [Christ]was in Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod,...

Luk 23:9 He questioned him with many words, but he [Christ]gave no answers.

Luk 23:11 Herod with his soldiers humiliated him and mocked him. Dressing him in luxurious clothing, they sent him back to Pilate.

Luk 23:12 Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before that they were enemies with each other.

Act 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, ...both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

Herod [an Idumean] beheaded John the Baptist -another jew:-

Mat 14:10 And [Herod]sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

In the past,

Mohammad beheaded captives, and because he did so did his followers. The sanctioned method of execution in Islamic nations is only by beheading. Beheading is a definite sign of Islam.

In The Present

Today non-Islamic nations execute by various methods such as hanging, lethal injection, and firing squad, Once again, there are many beheadings in the world, and these are both by Islamic nations and by islamists outside those nations. Countless thousands and thousands of people (mainly Christian) are beheaded daily, but is not publicized much in the media because it is not seen as 'newsworthy':

Islam is the only major world religion today to legitimize beheadings because it has both Qur'anic and historical sanction, and they believe that God has ordained them to obliterate their enemies in this manner.

In the future:-

Christians are being beheaded right now in the Middle East and elsewhere, and it is prophesied that Christians will be beheaded in the future:-

Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Summary

Since beheading is uniquely-Islamic, and is the identifying mark of Mohammed and his followers, the very fact of prophesied beheadings in "Revelation" shows that Mohammad is in the Bible even though he is not mentioned by name. ("Interpretation" has nothing to do with it.)

Muhammad is never mentioned in the Bible. Muhammad has got nothing to do with the Bible.

AnswerMuhammad was never really mentioned in the Bible. However, if you look anywhere in the Bible, with a little ingenuity you can find whatever you are looking for. One person can find one meaning in a passage of the Bible, while another person may find a completely different meaning in the same passage and be equally convinced that this is exactly what it says. It just depends on what you are looking for. Burton L. Mack (Who Wrote the New Testament) says he sees this happen all the time in the classrooms of the School of Theology at Claremont. It works for Christians, and it can work for Muslims.

There is no specific mention of prophet Mohammed, but Jesus has warned us of false prophets in general e.g. Matthew 24:24 - " For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."

Do Muslims believe the New Testament in the Christian Bible prophesies the coming of Muhammad?

peace be upon you We Muslims do not believe the New Testament or old testament, so the new testament in our belief is false. In our quran (the book of allah), more than one verse mentioned that Christ (pbuh) was speaking to his disciples about the coming of his brother, Muhammad, and tell them that the Prophet Muhammad is the last prophet. Christians at that time did not say that this speech is wrong, because this prophecy was found in the bible, and Many Christians converted to Islam (the religion of all prophets). In spite of this, there are still some texts in the Bible that mention Prophet Muhammad. peace be upon him. For example the gospel of Barnabas mentioned prophet Muhammad in many places and by name, but christian church prevented it.

Does the Bible confirm Muhammad as the last prophet?

A:The Bible was written centuries before the time of Muhammad and therefore does not mention him at all. However, Burton L Mack (Who Wrote the New Testament) describes a trick wherein one can ask any question of the Bible and get some kind of answer, then if the first answer does not appear to be helpful, one looks for another answer to the same question, until the right answer appears. In this way, Christians can 'find' references to Jesus in the Old Testament, and likewise many Muslims can 'find' references to Muhammad in the Bible.
