On your gear stick there is a button. This is the overdrive. Press it again and the OD (overdrive) will come on.
OverDrive Off
Many Ford automobile and pickup transmissions have an overdrive function. Most can be turned on and off with a push-on, push-off switch, . The lighted OD-off or indicates that the overdrive function is disabled, turned off. If, while the vehicle is running, you push the button adjacent to the indicator that says OD-off, you will turn on/enable the overdrive function. When the overdrive function is enabled, the OD-off lighted indicator goes of, and there is no indicator when the overdrive is engaged.
When you see the OD off indicator on the dashboard, you drive the car with higher rpm. It gives you extra performance but shortens the lifetime of the engine.
The OD Off on all Lexus and Toyota vehicles means the Overdrive Gear in the Transmission is off. This is controlled by a button either on the gear shift or on the center console. Pressing it in or out turns the OD gear on or off. When you are driving in hilly conditions the OD is sometimes turned off to give the transmission a lower gear for more torque (pulling power) or help with braking on the downside of a hill. The OD gear is designed to improve fuel efficiency and put less stress on the engine at highway speeds. When the OD feature is engaged the yellow OD Off indicator will Not be lit on.
Means the switch that stops the trany from using the overdrive is shut off. Usually a switch on the shifter.
It means the overdrive is turned off... it's typically a button on the side of the transmission shift column.
If the light says off then your overdrive is turned off, push the button again and the light will turn off and overdrive will be on again.
You have probably turned off the overdrive function of the automatic transmission. Look for a small button on the gear selector reachable with your thumb.
there will be a small button below the gear shift stick.... on the stick itself.. just click that button.....
