It depends on the school you are in or want to get into. 2.9 is a high "C" average. If you are applying to college, most have a base of at least a 2.0 for high school work, some want a 3.0. If you are in a college or university, most expect a Cumulative GPA of 2.0-2.5 to just stay in school. Each department or major has different requirements. To get into a graduate school, most want at least a 3.0-3.5 GPA for undergraduate work. So it is all relative, and depends on where you are at in your education.

∙ 15y agoIt all Depends on previous grades. If a 2.2 is an improvement from previous grades than yes it is good, but if it's a drop then you know you can improve. There's always room for improvement it's just how much effort you want to put towards it. If I we're you I'd try for a 2.5 Avg which is a B, and isn't all that far off.

∙ 6y ago2.9 is a fairly decent, if slightly unimpressive grade point average. It would benefit you greatly to raise that up into the 3.25 range at least. (Maybe enroll in some "Honors" level classes next year.) Don't stress about it too much though. Just do your best and see where that takes you.

∙ 10y agoIt all depends on what you where you want to go and what you want to do. If you want to get into MIT for Chemistry it should be higher. If you want to get into a state school, than yeah its pretty good.
