The thing is, even if Mr. Knowles-Carter (Jay-Z) does believe in the Illuminati, it means nothing more than if he believes in Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy. Odd group. Right? The Illuminati was an organization (1776-1785) of enlightened intellectuals whose goal was the overthrow of an oppressive monarchy and the control of civil authorities by the Roman Catholic Church. They were very unsuccessful in their endeavor because that monarch successfully destroyed the organization and imprisoned their leadership.
The only Illuminati that exists today is the invention of writers and bloggers who enjoy feeding the imaginations of paranoid and naive individuals.

Some people believe a group of powerful people exists that has ties to the occult. They believe the group has influence over governments, media, and every aspect of society, and that they want to bring about a New World Order which they totally control. People who believe this group exists often refer to it as the Illuminati. Rumors persist that celebrities, politicians, and other people are members of the group, but while they may support some of the ideas and goals or be involved in the occult, they are not members of the Illuminati.
