Godzillas (there are more than one) are mutated Godzillasaurs. The Godzillasaurus is a fictional species of therapod who are one the few species of dinosaur that survived the K-T extiction (in the Toho universe).

Godzilla or Gojira 1st appeared in the 1954 Film by Ishiro Honda "Gojira".
Its general appearance is that of some kind of therapod dinosaur but this was never the intension. It was supposed to be a Sea Monster of no real genus.
Gojira is a mixure of 2 Japanese words. Gorira (Gorilla) and Kujira (Whale).

∙ 10y agoGodzilla is a fictional creaure in a movie and follows no known taxonomy. Popular ananlysis sees the creature as a symbol of American nuclear weapons in post war Japan. Writers of the mateial and the designers of the costume, models or CGI images may have thad a reason for his appearance and history. They may have thought that Godzilla is a gigantic mutant dinosaur that was transformed from the fallout of an atomic bomb test .

Yes and no. Godzilla would be considered a dinosaur as he is a big reptile but remember not all retiles are a dinosaur. So in conclusion Godzilla is not a Dinosaur.
