No these were taken by people with a digital camera.

The views are made by the camera being driven down the roads/streets in a van.
Actually its not the altitude of the satellite but the resolution of the camera that is responsible for a high resolution imagery. In fact the better resolution imagery in Google Earth comes from aerial and street-level photography.
Some are satellite and others are aerial (taken from airplanes with special high resolution cameras and also from air balloons). Street View photos, however, are taken from car, van, or bicycle.
The pictures were taken by a satellite which can photograph a large area.
The satellite that revolves around the earth.AdditionallyStreet View photographs on the other hand are taken by Google or its associates typically by cars with special cameras.
Photos taken of Earth from an orbiting satellite
Satellite pictures are taken through the satellite and sent to Earth via satellite waves.

The aerial, satellite, and Street View imagery in Google Earth is not real-time (or live). But there is also a webcam layer integrated into Google Earth (enabled in Gallery layer) that can show "live" scenes at selected locations.
Satellite pictures of Earth are taken by a camera mounted on a satellite in orbit, high above Earth's atmosphere. They are transmitted wirelessly over satellite signals, much like satellite TV.
Satellite Images
August 14, 1959. The pictures were taken by the satellite, Explorer 6. It was launched by the United States. These were the first pictures taken of the Earth from space.
The Street View images that are used are not necessarily taken at the same time as the images that are used in the mapping version of these online tools. Therefore one might be a couple of years older than the other.
