No, Hawai`i is part of Polynesia not Micronesia or Melanesia which are two groups of islands further southeast in the Pacific. These groupings are named for characteristics the first western explorers noted when they "discovered" the islands. Polynesia- Many peoples; Micronesia- Small peoples; Melanesia- Dark peoples. Other Polynesian island (groups) include Aotearoa, Rapa Nui, Tonga, Samoa and French Polynesia.

Hawai'i is part of Polynesia. Hawaiians are polynesian. But don't get confused by all the asians you see in Hawai'i on television. they simply live in Hawai'i but are not Hawaiian.
