No, Long Island is not a city. It is a large island just east of Manhattan that stretches northeast out into the Atlantic Ocean. Long Island contains four counties, of the State of New York. Two of them, Queens and Kings, are the boroughs Queens and Brooklyn of New York City. The other two, Nassau and Suffolk, are largely suburban areas.

No, Long Island is not a borough. Nor is it a county, city, or town. The name "Long Island" is a geographical name, not a political or official one. Long Island, which is part of New York State, is the largest island in the continental United States. The island is divided into four counties: Kings County, Queens County, Nassau County and Suffolk County. Two of these counties -- Kings and Queens -- are also boroughs of New York City.

The five boroughs of New York City are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island. Each borough is also a county in state government: Manhattan is New York County, Brooklyn is Kings County, Staten Island is Richmond County, and the other two have the same names (Queens is Queens County and The Bronx is Bronx County).

The boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens (Kings County and Queens County) are located on the western end of Long Island. The remainder of Long Island consists of the two other counties (Nassau County and Suffolk County) which are part of New York State, but NOT part of New York City.

No. Long Island is an island located off the southern most part of New York State. New York City is comprised of 5 boroughs (Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan). The western-most portion of Long Island is where the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn (parts of New York City) are located. So, 2 boroughs of NYC are located on Long Island, but there is a huge area other than these 2 boroughs, and it takes hours to drive from one end of Long Island to the other.

No, and yes. Long Island consists of four counties: Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk. Two of these counties (Kings and Queens) are also boroughs of New York City (Brooklyn and Queens, respectively). The other two counties (Nassau and Suffolk) are part of New York State, but not part of New York City.

New Yorkers typically use the term "Long Island" to refer only to the part of Long Island that is not part of New York City (Nassau and Suffolk Counties). So in that sense, no, Long Island is not part of the five boroughs of New York City. But since Brooklyn and Queens are on Long Island, it could be said that Long Island is part of New York City. But really, it would be more correct to say that part of New York City is on Long Island.
