The boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens (Kings County and Queens County) are located on the western end of Long Island. The remainder of Long Island consists of the two other counties (Nassau County and Suffolk County) which are part of New York State, but NOT part of New York City.

∙ 13y agoNo. Long Island is an island located off the southern most part of New York State. New York City is comprised of 5 boroughs (Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan). The western-most portion of Long Island is where the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn (parts of New York City) are located. So, 2 boroughs of NYC are located on Long Island, but there is a huge area other than these 2 boroughs, and it takes hours to drive from one end of Long Island to the other.

New Yorkers typically use the term "Long Island" to refer only to the part of Long Island that is not part of New York City (Nassau and Suffolk Counties). So in that sense, no, Long Island is not part of the five boroughs of New York City. But since Brooklyn and Queens are on Long Island, it could be said that Long Island is part of New York City. But really, it would be more correct to say that part of New York City is on Long Island.
