Yes.

Newburgh Seminary is excellent.

I completed my Master's with Newburgh. There were eighteen classes associated with the program.

Newburgh is one of the few online seminaries that offers Greek. I plan to enroll in this course soon.

I attended a traditional seminary for almost two years but feel like I learned more and am better prepared for ministry with Newburgh Theological Seminary.

David

Agreed, Nrewburgh Theological Seminary is a great school and the faculty is top notch!

Answers.com is not responsible for the opinions expressed on this page, but notes a very marked range of views, which are stated below. The question is now closed for further answers. One view The school does not appear to be recognized by the College Board, therefore does not have the preferred regional accreditation. Read the following carefully.

When choosing a college or university, make sure the institution has a regional accreditation. With a regional accreditation you can be assured the coursework and degree you complete will be recognized by all other colleges and universities as well as employers. Below I have listed the six accrediting agencies and their geographical areas of responsibility. I am disclosing the below so you do not become a victim of educational scams, institutions that are nothing more than diploma mills, or that do not have the best accreditation, and are eager to take your money for a degree that is worthless. Make sure the institution is accredited by one of following responsible agencies.

Regional Accreditation Agencies

· Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools - Educational institutions in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands, as well as schools for American children in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.

· New England Association of Schools and Colleges - Educational institutions in the six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont).

· North Central Association of Colleges and Schools - Educational institutions in Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, New Mexico, South Dakota, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

· Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities - Postsecondary institutions (colleges and universities) in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.

· Western Association of Schools and Colleges - Educational institutions in California, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, Micronesia, Palau, and Northern Marianas Islands.

· Southern Association of Colleges and Schools - Educational institutions in Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Texas.

Another view Yes.

I have been with the program over one year. The advisors, graders and entire staff are great.

I did not believe I would have a chance to go back to school. Newburgh's program

gives me the opportunity to study at home. Their payment plan also makes it affordable.

I tried a couple of traditional schools. I sat in classrooms for a couple of years and accumulated a lot of credit. I've learned more through Newburgh than I did in the

traditional schools. They are wonderful and work for many. However, Newburgh Theological Seminary has been better for me. I've been able to keep my church staff position and move forward on my Master's degree at the same time.

Another view No,

Newburgh is a diploma mill. They have NO accreditation and a terrible reputation. Just go to their diploma mill website and read the streaming promotion across the top of the screen offering students, "Enroll Now and Graduate In December". Amazing! Just three months to a seminary degree.

Or go to one of their seminars for one day and do 2 courses and qualify for a seminary degree. Quality schools provide quality education and quality educational standards. Diploma mills like Newburgh do little more than sell degrees, which are worthless pieces of paper. They do not qualify for accreditation because of their lack of credibility and standards.

Just read about them on the internet and beware of this scam. Another view I completed my Master's with Newburgh Theological Seminary and am currently in the Ph.D. program. The study opportunities and staff support from the school have been wonderful.

The Newburgh Theological seminary is accredited by Transworld Accrediting Commission International. This is NOT recognized as a higher education accreditation organizations. So, while the school claims to be accredited, it isn't recognized by it's country as being accredited.

Accreditation

About Accreditation:

In the United States, accreditation is used to assure quality in schools or educational institutions and programs. It should be noted that accreditation is a voluntary, non-governmental process of review and evaluation. The accreditation process requires an educational institution or program to meet certain, defined standards or criteria as set forth by the accrediting body. These standards change from State to State, and from region to region. These standards also change with time. In fact, thankfully and partly because of our country's heritage and Constitution (re: "freedom of choice") there are no two Universities that have the same structure, philosophies, teaching modalities or evaluation criteria. This can act to give or permit a certain degree of freedom. Our programs are not designed to meet any specific local, state, territorial, regional, or national licensing or credentialing laws. Further, being non-traditional in nature our programs are not designed to meet a particular requirement established by any private association or "traditional" licensing or other accrediting organization.

Without doubt, many of our students/graduates are among the highest caliber, most intelligent, talented, best-educated and most effective individuals you will find anywhere. They and their NTS degrees are equal to their counterparts from traditional schools anywhere in the world.

Will my degree be accepted?

Although our graduates do quite well in the job market and with acceptance by other schools, Newburgh Theological Seminary and College of The Bible makes no promises, representations, nor guarantees of employment or acceptability of transfer credits to any public or private educational institution. If you are seeking an NTS degree for specific licensing, employment or additional educational purposes, we advise you to first check with the association, governmental agency, employer, or specific educational institution to determine the acceptability.

A degree is never worth more than the person who has the degree. Many students have graduated from schools where thousands of dollars were spent to obtain the education. Yet, after the student graduated they still had very little knowledge of God's word and had grown very little in their ministry skills. While they had an accredited degree to hang on the wall they went on to do very little in ministry because they did not have the skills that churches and schools look for when hiring someone, and that is ability, which can only come from credible teaching and training.

Newburgh Theological Seminary will continue to shy away from any kind of accreditation that might weaken our ability to train men and women to be effective servants of Christ in their church and place of ministry service. Few pastors are promoted to bigger churches simply because of the name of their institution. Churches want ministers who demonstrate that they truly have a real degree and education by what they are and how they perform their tasks. A degree from Newburgh Theological Seminary and Newburgh College of the Bible will give you the credible degree that you need, but most importantly, you will engage in the studies that will sharpen your God-given talents to do great things for God. Your church and peers will accept your degree if they accept you. The degree does not make the person. The person makes the degree.

Will a degree from NTS/NCB be accepted by another school?

This all depends on the school. No school has to accept credit from any other school. In many cases the credit from NTS/NCB should be acceptable to any other school. We utilize only the finest material available. However, we cannot say what another school will accept.

The main question to be asked when considering a school is, "Is this the school that will Please God?" If it pleases God then it doesn't matter who is displeased. We ask all of our students to pray about all they do in life. Our school is about honoring Christ and being His servants. We feel the accreditation of God is on our school because we strive to please Him in academics and ministry training.

If the school is right for God then it's right for you. We encourage you to prayerfully fill out the free academic evaluation form and send it back to us as soon as possible so that you may begin today to prepare for the greater ministry that God has for you!

Newburgh Theological Seminary has an excellent Th.D degree program.

My paper will be about 160 pages with a Bibliography of about 45 - 50 references.

I suppose my paper could be less but I will probably have my paper published through Newburgh Press. The school has helped some of their doctoral students publish their

dissertations for worldwide book distribution.

The heart and soul of the program is the Th.D. paper.

There are a minimum of six texts that require papers as well. However, I have worked

through at least fifteen at this stage of the degree. I have enjoyed the freedom

and Christ-like atmosphere of the Newburgh Seminary staff and team.

No, it does not seem to be. It is not accredited by any of the respected accrediting agencies, which is a big red flag for me. Also, based on some discussions I found about it, the school seems to lack stringent academic requirements. I don't want to accuse it of being a diploma mill, but there may be better places for you to get a degree in theology. The rule about getting a degree is if it sounds too easy, or too good to be true, it's probably something to avoid.

No, it does not seem to be. For one thing, it lacks accreditation by the major (and most respected) agencies. A school with no accreditation is generally not reliable, since the courses do not meet the high standards required to get approval from these agencies. Also, this school seems to lack stringent academic requirements, based on discussions about it I have seen online. I do not want to accuse Newburgh of being a diploma mill, but it certainly makes me suspicious. A good rule to consider when choosing a school, whether online or not, is this: if it makes promises that are too good to be true, that means you should avoid it.
