Only twice in the games. Many people believe he is gullible or stupid, but this is not the case (except in Sonic Boom and Sonic X). The first time he was tricked was in his first appearance, Sonic 3 (AKA Sonic 3 & Knuckles). However this shouldn't really count since he had never met Sonic or Eggman/Dr. Robotnik and had no reason not to believe him. I believe the second time was in Sonic Adventure (1 or 2, I can't remember) he was tricked again, but hasn't since. I blame the cartoons and later games for this misconceived perception of Knuckles's character. They play to the idea that he is stupid and gullible which frankly annoys me. Knuckles is such an awesome character and deserves better treatment than he's received in recent years. Hope this was helpful and informative.
