Many Romanians were forced to change their religion (Greek Orthodox), to change their names in Hungarian ones and many were forced to flee or have been killed. The archaeological proves that the territory belongs to Romania were destroyed, Romanians had the same rights as slaves and it was forbidden to talk Romanian. But the whole pressure didn't get anywhere.
