Best Answer

Actually Yoshi is a Dinasoar not a Dragon, In Super Smash Bros. Yoshi's final smash is him as a dragon but he really isn't a Dragon. The only way for Yoshi to get wings is by getting it from a item box & he can only shoot fireballs by eating them & shooting it back out.

In Japan, he is called, "Super Dragon Yoshi." So, technically, he's a dragon.

Where can you find Super Dragon Yoshi in Super Mario Advance 2?

"Super Dragon Yoshi" is just Yoshi. At the start of the game, you get a message signed "Yoshi" with a paw print, right? It said "Super Dragon Yoshi" in the Japanese version of the game -- "Super Dragon" is just Yoshi's title. When SMA2 was localized, they apparently neglected to do this again when adding the message at the end of the game (which wasn't present in the SNES version) and translated "Super Dragon Yoshi" literally, causing confusion.

Why is Yoshi named Yoshi?

"Yoshi" is Japanese roughly means "YES!" to a certain degree. This "YES!" resembles Yoshi's upbeat and active nature. The game developers had created a dino/dragon character with a love for adventure apparently, so they decided to give him a proper name that suits him. Basically, "yes" with a punctuation mark at the end. Keep in mind though that "Yoshi" does not directly mean "yes" in Japanese. If somebody asks you a yes or no question in Japan, and you reply back to them "yoshi", they will know what you mean, but it's not considered proper grammar.
