∙ 10y agoNo, in general, a C indicates that the person is barely passing the material, depending on the education system, most colleges and universities count C grades as either 60s or end of 50s. It can only be a good grade if it's equivalent to 70-79%, otherwise, try harder in classes.

∙ 10y agoGetting a C is basically in the 60-70's range I believe. If you get that grade in university, you are either passing the class by a small hair or you are failing it. Getting a C in university is bad in a way because you have to have at least a high B to high A in order to pass. Keep that grade up!

∙ 9y agoA C is "average." They're not terrible in high school in the US, because most people go to high school in the US and it turns out that average people are mostly average.
People in college or university aren't supposed to be average, they're supposed to be above average. So being "average" means you're actually below average for the group of people who go on to post-secondary school. A C in college is more like a D (or at best a C--) in high school.
By the time you get into grad school, a C is essentially considered a failing grade.

∙ 9y agoYes. Most US universities prefer not to fail students (F) because it looks bad for their statistics. As a result, any grade in the C-range is given as an equivalent for failure without explicitly failing the student. It also allows the student to get credit for the course, which failure does not allow for.

∙ 15y agoMiddle of the road.....average. If you are a grad student it is a D/F. Grad students can't have a grade below a B to stay in grad school.
