A guy I do video work for just bought that camera and I have been using it successfully with Final Cut Pro in a series of tests to see what it's capable of. So far I can only transfer the footage as ProRez 422 or the Apple Intermediate Codec from the camera via FCP "Log and Transfer". I have not tested this camera with iMovie or any other software yet.
One thing that's been annoying me is that footage shot as 24FPS progressive always imports into FCP at 29.97FPS. From the little bit of digging I've done so far all I can tell is that you actually have to run the footage thru compressor to get make it 24FPS. The footage looks pretty descent from what I've seen so far after compressor but it's still a bit of a hassle to have to transfer and then run the footage thru compressor.
I have a Late 2009 iMac 27 i7. I recently purchased the Canon Vixia HFM31. I purchased as a result of the Apple Store and Best Buy's recommendation, TOAST 10 Titanium Pro edition. It has the plug in included to allow HD to burn on standard DVDs, which are playable only on Blu-ray systems. It does absolutely work. Only about 30 minutes of HD can fit on a DVD but it's a good work round. The cost of $149 is a bit steep for the software but it works. Who wants to see SD video if you've paid the price for a HD camcorder? I edit my movies in iMovie and then drag the file from Finder into the Toast window.
Mac uses an HD Canon Vixia. It is on his NickNews video.
