In a very large sense it is renewable because you can restore leather, returning it back to like new. Just as you can restore wood, you can also restore leather. That shabby leather couch may look new again with the proper restoration process. So, think of leather as "the new renewable."

'Yes. it is. Think of our ancestor, how they were using it.

ITS made out of a HE or SHE....because leather is made out of a once living creature, cow. Just like fur is dead, so is leather'

It really depends....on the type of leather?

Goat leather is more sustainable as they require less resources to raise and are more efficient all in all. They can also be raised in 3rd World countries as they are quite tough and self sufficient animals.

The Cow Leather Fashion industry is one of the most destructive forces in the Amazon, giving an extra incentive to cut down trees and raise cattle.

Leather itself also requires further processing after its virgin product such as tanning etc. which uses more chemicals in their life cycle.

It COULD be made sustainable if the cattle culture changes but there are better materials out there, so probably would never happen.
