No, using the AWG system of measuring wire sizes the smaller the wire numbers go the larger the wire size becomes. Hence the number 14 is smaller that the number 16 so it is largest in size of the two wires.

yes. The higher the number the smaller the wire.

Is a 6 gauge wire larger than a 12 gauge wire?

Yes, the smaller gauge number, the larger the wire is.

Is a 25 gauge smaller than a 22?

UK wire gauge - the higher the number the thinner the wire. So 25 would be thinner than 22.

Is 20 gauge iron wire thicker than 21 gauge?

No, the higher gauge means a thinner wire.

What does AWG mean?

American Wire Guage. The smaller the number the larger the wire. As in an AWG 14/2 wire is much smaller than an AWG 10/2 wire.

Which awg wire gauge indicates the smallest wire diameter?

The larger the wire gauge, the smaller the diameter. 12 gauge is bigger than 14 gauge.

Which is thinner 24 gauge floral wire or 30 gauge floral wire?

Bigger guage number = smaller diameter wire. 30 guage is thinner

What does GA for tubing stand for?

the answer is gauge its a measurement of thickness in wire the 4 gauge (ga) wire ran from my car battery to power my audio amp. the smaller the number the bigger the wire usually from 24 gauge to 1/0 gauge which is about a inch thick

Can you safely connect a 14 gauge 3 wire heater to a extension cord rated 16 gauge 3 wire?

16 Ga wire is smaller than 14 Ga. The answer is absolutely NO!

Is number 8 gauge weld wire fencing stronger than number 10 gauge wire?

Due to the fact that a #8 wire is of a larger diameter than a #10 wire, I would say that logically it should be stronger to break.

How thick is 18 gauge?

very thin, with gauges the smaller the number, the bigger the wire. battery wires are on average a 6/8 gauge

Does the AWG of a wire stand for the size of wire?

It stands for American Wire Gauge and a designation like 10 AWG indicates the size. There are a number of other specifications which derive from the cross sectional area of the wire as designated by the gauge. One confusing aspect is as the number of the gauge gets smaller the current carrying capacity increases.
