i dont think alchemy is real, the closet they've come to it is transmuting lead to gold, i think. mabey it worked in the past. you can read up on it on wikipedia, just type in "alchemy" or "alchemist"
hoped that helped ^^
Unfortunately, alchemy is completely different on this side of the gate. Sorry to disappoint you but from what I've read so far, its just chemically breaking down elements. but then again, i could be wrong. Fullmetal Alchemist actually inspired me to become an alchemist, but i'm sure i'm not the only one. :) maybe looking up some books or the internet. but it won't be easy. It's hard to find basically "step one" like in intro as to what it is, how it works, and a test experiment like Ed's bird on the floor or the origami crane. I wish alchemy on this side was exactly the same as Amestris, or that there was at least some way we could cross over. I still haven't found what I'm looking for, most of these books are about the Philosopher's Stone. And once again, making one isn't the same as Amestrian alchemy. Hope this helped a bit. :)

No. Alchemy no longer exists. Alchemy was abandoned because it didn't work. Some of the things that did work became chemistry. No one successfully turned lead into gold. Nor did anyone successfully create the philosopher's stone. Alchemy was basically chemistry with a lot of magic thrown into it. The alchemists were sorcerer want to be's. They attempted to conjure spirits, and use spells on chemicals that they believed contained magical properties, all in a vain attempt to convert base metals into something of greater value. Even Isaac newton, probably the greatest scientific mind of the last 500 years, accomplished nothing in alchemy, even though he experimented with it for decades.
anime is in no way shape or form like real life of course people are more entertained by the impossible then the possible. oh and no its not :D
While you can be an alchemist, the study of alchemy has largely evolved into the more modern study of chemistry.
Not on this side of the gate, no.

In the world of Fullmetal Alchemist, an alchemist can preform transmutations without a circle if they have seen 'the truth' like Edward Elric has. 'The truth' is often seen when at the Gate, which usually appears when a human transmutation occurs. Other alchemists that can transmute with a circle are Izumi Curtis and Alphonse Elric.
He cares for her but any romantic feelngs are unknown.
HECK YA!!!!! theres like 53 ... 51 to be precise.
Envy Williams is 19 his Char on the show is 400 years old.
if your thinking about alchemy like in Fullmetal alchemist the show, then making life would work, but the answer is no for alchemy in today's alchemy, as in making a penny turn to gold by the process of mixing chemicals.
definatly not milk!
I LOVE the show! =D

I like them both, Brotherhood is directly from the manga, but Fullmetal Alchemist is an adaption, the ending of brotherhood is better.

Truthfully, the answer depends on the series. In Fullmetal Alchemist (the anime), Envy is a male. Envy was born from the failed human transmutation performed by Hohenheim after his son died. Like the other Homunculi in the series, their gender prior to the transmutation carries over. As for Fullmetal Alchemist (manga) and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Envy has no gender. The Homunculi in these series are born from the sins of Father, which do not have gender.
