Some say drinking alkaline water is beneficial for health. This has to do with maintaining body pH so the body does not become acidic. Others claim that body pH is naturally maintained.
According to information obtained at the Mayo Clinic website, proponents of alkaline water say it "can neutralize acid in your bloodstream, boost your metabolism and help your body absorb nutrients more effectively. Some even say that alkaline water can help prevent disease and slow the aging process. However, researchers haven't verified these claims." They go on to point out that some studies suggest it may help slow bone loss, but more study is needed concerning the benefits.
