As with one of the properties of gas, the argon will expand and diffuse throughout the space in which it is confined. If this happens in a room, it will dissapate to all parts of the room equally. This is a metal halide lamp, and the problem is not the argon. It's the Mercury that is inside. Mercury is toxic, and it can easily become airborne. As a gas it's very dangerous because it can be inhaled.
Its time to buy a new light bulb!! The filament may cool off too fast or heat up too quickly and break. When the filament is broken it stops the circut of electricty, therefore the bulb will not illuminate.
yes. filament will burn though less fast
hope you find this useful
regular light bulbs have argon and/or nitrogen
The filament (assuming an incandescent bulb) would burn up very quickly.
Its mostly Argon and a small amount of mercury. Its the main ingredients inside a flourescent lightbulb, which are used to light up billboards and highway signs. See the related link for more information on flourescent bulbs.
The glass envelope, or bulb, of an incandescent light bulb is needed to hold the inert gas, such as argon, that fills the space. The filament of a light bulb is made of tungsten wire. When electricity passes through it the filament becomes extremely hot and emits light. The inert gas surrounding the filament protects it from evaporating too quickly. A light bulb only lasts as long as its filament lasts.
Gas is not used to make light bulbs emit light. What happens is that the wire is really thin so the electrons come across high resistance and become very hot, therefore creating light. However low pressure inert gases such as argon, neon or nitrogen are used inside the light bulb to keep it safe, and stop an explosion.
The gas in a light bulb is Argon
It won't burn the filament.
The kind of gas that is in a light bulb is called Argon.

argon - inert gas
Argon is often used when an inert atmosphere is needed. It is used in this way in incandescent light bulbs to stop oxygen from corroding the filament. Argon is used in fluorescent tubes and low-energy light bulbs. A low-energy light bulb often contains argon gas and mercury. When it is switched on an electric discharge passes through the gas, generating UV light. The coating on the inside surface of the bulb is activated by the UV light and it glows brightly.
ARGON
glass and argon gas .
An energy saving light bulb is simply a fluorescent light-bulb in a small housing with a built in starter . The gas used for it will be the same as a standard strip-light which is a tube filled with low pressure mercuric oxide and an inert gas like Argon Neon or krypton.
An inert gas such as argon.
