Light bulbs do contribute to global warming. A good rule of thumb is that household appliances consume electricity and therefore contribute to global warming in proportion to the amount of heat they produce. Incandescent light globes work by heating a wire filament until it glows white hot, so they are obviously very heavy users of electricity.

Replacing these by modern high-efficiency, low energy lights uses a fraction of the electricity and therefore contributes only a fraction of the carbon emissions that lead to global warming.

Yes. Global warming is the result of increasing levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, caused by human activity. Carbon dioxide emissions are now classed as pollution.

A:Pollution is a bad thing to do to our planet. It certainly hurts our water, plant life and land. It has little, if any effect on the issue of global warming. A:Yes, it does. Specifically the emission of Carbon dioxide, methane and several other greenhouse gases. A:The CO2 from burning fossil fuels is one of the causes of global warming, but ironically, the solid particles (soot) which also comes from fossil fuels is filtering out sunlight and having a cooling effect. If we were to remove the particles, global warming would proceed faster than it already is. A:It is a proven fact that the 3 ice ages the planet has had was the earth trying to recool itself. The UV rays from the sun warm the earth and the atmosphere does not allow them to escape. Over time the trapped UV rays build up causing global warming. To cool itself back down the earth goes through what is called a cooling cycle. That is where the ice ages came in 1 major, 2 minor). The last ice age happened in the 1800's where there where reports of being able to walk across the New York Harbor. The burning fossil fuels cause the warming to increase faster so they just speed up a natural process. A:When pollution builds up in Earth's atmosphere, it can't escape. Heat from the sun shines through the pollution (greenhouse gases) and the greenhouse gases act almost like a greenhouse, trapping heat. So as more greenhouse gases build up, more heat is trapped in Earth's atmosphere, therefore causing Earth to heat up, and causing Global Warming. A:Smoke from the factories and vehicles contain harmful chemicals which can also cause air pollution. Those air will gather to form clouds and later then will fall as a rain which is polluted and we call this as acid rain. Acid rain can damage the buildings and even can cause plants to die. Plants are the only living thing that can take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. if those plants will die, there will be too much co2 and lack of 02 in the air. That will be result in global warming. A:I think "Air Pollution" does cause "Global Warming", Because air pollution is made up of solid particles and chemicals. Natural processes impacting the atmosphere include volcanoes, biological decay, and dust storms. Plants, trees, and grass release volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as methane, into the air. Which I think it does cause global warming. Global Warming is caused by the gases in the air and that's what is melting are ice and killing are Polar Bears So yes Air Pollution does cause Global Warming. A:Pollution is bad, but not a part of the issue of Man induced Global Warming. A:Pollution is the main cause of global warming. Pollutants such as greenhouse gases are often trapped in the atmosphere. As a result, heat is retained inside. This heat is what causes temperatures around the globe to rise thus causing global warming. A:Pollution does not cause Global Warming. Carbon Dioxide is not a pollutant.

SMOG is a pollutant. So how is smog related to global warming? Look at the period between 1940 and 1975. Temperatures dropped dramatically in the 1940s and remained low through the 50s, 60s, and early 70s. This seems to contradict the global warming theory of anthropogenic causes of global warming, since we didn't stop, or even reduce, carbon dioxide emissions during that time. In fact, we rapidly increased carbon dioxide emissions during that time. The best explanation is... SMOG. They say that, in addition to putting out a bunch of CO2 during that time, we also generated a lot of smog. And the blanket of smog surrounding the Earth blocked sunlight from reaching the surface, thus keeping temperatures cool. So, smog DECREASES global warming.

So, there are two man-made pollutants that decrease global warming, compared to one naturally occurring substance that may increase global warming.

A:Certainly our normal understand of pollution has very little to do with global warming. However you might argue that the extra carbon dioxide being put into the atmosphere since the Industrial Revolution is disrupting the natural carbon cycle and so is a pollutant. (One definition of pollutant is "A substance or energy introduced into the environment that has undesired effects, or adversely affects the usefulness of a resource.")

Is global warming a pollution?

Global warming in itself isn't pollution - global warming is the gradual warming of the earth. However, global warming was caused by carbon dioxide pollution in the atmosphere, but global warming in itself isn't a pollution. yes it is a pollution
