Yes, it's very real!

The industries threatened by global warming are spending tens of millions of dollars on disinformation campaigns to make us believe that man is not causing the climate to warm up. Science historian Naomi Oreskes has done an excellent job of documenting the fact that there has been a continuous scientific consensus in anthropogenic global warming (man is causing the climate to heat up) since 1979. The American Geophysical Union recently did a survey of scientists on this topic. They found that 97% of climate scientists who are actively doing research on the climate all believe that man is causing global warming. Global warming is very, very real.

A closely related phenomenon could end up killing us all. Recent research has shown that 3 of the five mass extinctions in earth's history has been caused when the oceans have gone anoxic (oxygen deprived) and hydrogen sulfide producing anaerobic bacteria has released hydrogen sulfide into the atmosphere killing most forms of plant and animal life. These events have happened when the C02 concentration in the atmosphere reached about 1000 ppm. We are currently at 400 ppm and this is increasing by 3.5 ppm per year -- and the rate of increase in increasing.

A: No, there is a lot of evidence pointing to it today. The concept of global warming has been around for nearly a century however only recently have we been stating to feel the results.

A: No. Over the last 100 years, the average temperature of the air near the Earth´s surface has risen a little less than 1° Celsius (0.74 ± 0.18°C, or 1.3 ± 0.32° Fahrenheit). Does not seem all that much? It is responsible for the conspicuous increase in storms, floods and raging forest fires we have seen in the last ten years, though, say scientists.

Their data show that an increase of one degree Celsius makes the Earth warmer now than it has been for at least a thousand years. Out of the 20 warmest years on record, 19 have occurred since 1980. The three hottest years ever observed have all occurred in the last eight years, even.

But it is not only about how much the Earth is warming, it is also about how fast it is warming.

There have always been natural climate changes - Ice Ages and the warm intermediate times between them - but those evolved over periods of 50,000 to 100,000 years. A temperature rise as fast as the one we have seen over the last 30 years has never happened before, as far as scientists can ascertain. Moreover, normally the Earth should now be in a cool-down-period, according to natural effects like solar cycles and volcano activity, not in a heating-up phase.

No.

When we talk about global warming today we are talking about the rapid rise in temperature of the earth in the past 200 years, and especially in the last thirty years. This is not a lie. It has been measured accurately and the data is available from the IPCC website, from NASA website and many others. See the links below.

A:

Global warming is true. 97% of climate scientists agree that global warming is true and is being caused by humans. The only debate is to what degree, and how long it will take to stop, (if it isn't already too late).

No, global warming is not a hoax.

There is a vast Scientific Agreement on Global Warming:

All over the world every scientific organization that studies climate and the atmosphere agrees that the global climate is warming and the main cause is increased greenhouse gases caused by human activity.

A short list of the Scientific Organizations:

  • National Academy of Sciences (NAS)
  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
  • NASA's Goddard Institute of Space Studies (GISS)
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • The Royal Society of the UK (RS)
  • Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS)
  • Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)

The statements of these organizations clearly implicate human activity as the primary cause of current measured increases in global temperature. While businesses and politicians may take sides on political issues, scientists prefer to stick with the facts. 97% of the world's published climate scientists agree with the consensus. MOST of the remaining 3% do not disagree with it, but remain simply undecided. For scientists outside the field of climatology, the acceptance of reality is only a little over 80%. While this leaves "thousands" of scientists in the denialist camp, tens of thousands of scientists have come to grudgingly accept anthropogenic global warming.

In February 2007 the IPCC released a report called The Physical Basis of Climate Change. 113 nations immediately endorsed its determination that human activity is responsible for the increase in Global Warming since we began seriously burning fossil fuels at the beginning of the Industrial Age.

In January 2007, the US Government established the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, and members of both parties in the House and the Senate have introduced legislation to slow greenhouse gas emissions.

Businesses and Industries agree

Not just scientists and politicians accept the reality of human activity causing global warming. Businesses all across the world agree as well.

The US Climate Action Partnership, begun in January 2007 wants a federal cap-and-trade program that would cut greenhouse-gas emissions by 60 percent to 80 percent by 2050.

Chief executive Marius Kloppers of BHP Billiton, the biggest mining company in the world is calling in 2010 for an immediate price on carbon.

Even Oil Companies agree.

BP, British Petroleum, one of the largest companies in the world, says:

"There is an increasing consensus that climate change is linked to the consumption of carbon based fuels and that action is required now to avoid further increases in carbon emissions as the global demand for energy increases."

Shell Oil, another huge oil company says:

"Shell shares the widespread concern that the emission of greenhouse gases from human activities is leading to changes in the global climate."

If you believe that global warming is a hoax, then you have to believe that environmentalists control businesses and industries all over the world. You have to believe that environments also control all the governments and scientific institutions of every developed nation in the world. That would be a very hard case to make.

You would also have to swallow the notion independent scientists have all conspired to lie to the public. The accusation scientists hope to profit off falsified research rings hollow under close scrutiny. Nothing ruins a scientist's career faster than fraud, and so far the only evidence for fraud has been found in the research of the tiny handful of scientists whose are funded by the fossil fuel industry, which receives billions in profits every quarter. University professors enjoy a thing known as "tenure," which means they get paid the same regardless of their findings.

There is also a claim that research money is awarded on the basis of expected outcome. This claim is true when certain politically well connected industries finance the research, as when big tobacco companies paid scientists to lie about the connection between smoking and cancer. But NFS grants are awarded on the basis of the soundness of methodology--NOT on expected outcome. In fact, if your protocols are sound and you can make a case your research may overturn established findings, you are MORE likely to win grant money, not less. No one is all that interested in research that only proves what we already know.

YesGlobal warming is absolutely a hoax. First of all, none of the "scientific organizations" have stated conclusively that mankind is causing global warming. They do agree that there is a "high probability" than mankind is causing it. But even these alarmist organizations cannot state it conclusively.

The IPCC in particular is not a scientific organization at all, but a political organization. And most of the others are corrupted by politics as well.

And no, you don't have to believe that environmentalists control businesses, industries, and governments to believe this is a hoax. That is a ridiculous argument. Governments have bought into the hoax because, whether it's true or not, governments will be given more power in order to stop global warming, and governments always want more power. Businesses and industries, yes, even the oil companies, saw a growing trend among the public in belief in this hoax, and went along with it for public relations purposes. They don't REALLY believe it any more than I do. But they don't want to lose customers by appearing to not care about this issue.

Answer:

The idea of global warming is not debatable. We receive 1375 watts of energy from the sun for each square meter of surface we have on the planet. We retain roughly 350 watts of this energy. Without global warming we would be a cold planet. No life could exist without this natural event.

The planet has been in a warming cycle for the past 10,000 years. No science based group denies this issue either. We have seen warming during this period of over 11 degree C. Again, not debated. We even agree that we have seen 0.2 to 0.6 degrees of warming since 1850. All data suggests that 1850 was the lowest temp year of what is called by every science group the "mini ice age". Now logic would tell us we should see temp increase from the lowest temps of the last ice age. Again, this is not a debatable point.

What is debated between many scientists, climate experts and individuals that read the data is whether man is adding to this natural event. Political people would contend there is a consenus. This is not a true statement. There are thousands of scientists and climate experts that do not agree man is contributing, or that if he is, the contributions are too minor to discuss. Many of the 52 scientists used by the IPCC are currently suing to have their names removed from the latest report because they do not agree that the political report that was published agrees with available science.

Many of the groups above have been caught doctoring data to make the issue appear to be man induced. The most famous is that of Doctor Hansen of NASA and GISS fame. He altered algorithms to make the temps after 1996 appear warmer then they were. Doctor Mann's famous hockey stick graph has also been debunked and no science group considers it valid any longer.

The current false crisis of global warming is being used to transfer trillions of dollars of wealth to third world countries and lower the standard of living for the modern world. It is hard to make someone accept a lower standard of living unless they have a crisis that it helps. It is even better when we have a crisis that doesn't actually exist.

It is VERY easy to believe that political figures wish to make a crisis. This has been done all through history when you wish to change the way people do things. The Kyoto Protocol is a great example. The protocol calls for zero reduction and allows the unbridled growth of CO2. The only actual limits it addresses is the ability for a few countries to grow their wealth without transferring money to other countries. China, the largest producer of green house gases can triple their output, yet the U.S.A. would need to pay third world countries money to maintain their levels of prosperity. Hardly a cure to the issue of CO2 emission, yet it is pushed by "science" groups as a reduction in CO2.

An interesting point is that we see a quote from BP and from Shell oil on the idea of curbing green house emissions. They are currently two of the largest producers of solar panels in the world. Science or good business?

Global warming is not a hoax. More than 97% of the world's scientists support the findings of the UN IPCC (United Nations InterGovernmental Panel on Climate Change) that global warming is happening, and it is extremely likely that it is being caused by human actvities, namely, deforestation and burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). These activities mean the levels of greenhouse gases, mostly carbon dioxide, but also methane, are increasing more than the carbon cycle and other natural processes can deal with. Major National Science Academies across the world support these findings. This is what is causing global warming and it's not a hoax.

Global Warming is not a hoax.

It is an inconvenient truth, such as the discovery that smoking kills. People didn't want to believe it, so they ignored it and masked it as a fake. In actuality, out of 928 scientific articles about global warming, do you know how many disagreed with its reality? 0. None. However, the truth is not always something politicians or the media want you to hear. 53% of media articles said that global warming was just theory. Science has proven in many more ways then one that global warming is a worldwide catastrophe.

Another answer

Yes, Global Warming is fake. So what IS causing the temperatures to rise? Probably the sun. The sun is where all the heat comes from in the first place, so this makes sense. Increasing global temperatures, if they continue to occur, may indeed cause changes that are pleasant or unpleasant.

Another opinion:

NO! IT IS REAL! This will likely have some important effects on the environment, such as horrendous melting of glaciers such as Greenland and Antarctica which will cause devastatingly large floods. Increasing global temperatures, if they continue to occur, will indeed cause changes that are unpleasant.

Global Warming is not a fake, it is just not happening very fast.

Another opinion:

Yes, it is as fake as it can get. Besides the fact that many scientists have come out and flat out said that what they released were lies, there is more to it. Yes, temperatures are rising, ice is melting, and there's an easy answer, the Earth has temperature cycles. You may be interested to know that we're exiting an ice age, which would of course explain rise in temperatures and melting ice. Eventually, the Earth will go through this cycle and enter another ice age, the polar ice caps will reform, and life will continue. Corrupt scientists have been using global warming as a way to scare people into being green and driving the success of anything green, the kind that the government has been spending tax money on, unsurprisingly. They are using it for political gain, and covering their faulty investments.

The strict definition of a farce is "a comic dramatic work using buffoonery, horseplay, crude characterization and ludicrously improbable situations".

There is no way this can be applied to global warming. The 2015 agreement in Paris was a very serious undertaking where all 187 countries of the world made decisions to cut their carbon emissions so as to limit future warming to no more than 2 degrees Celsius.

Why does global warming decrease temperatures?

True global warming does not decrease temperatures. So, either the model for global warming's effects is hokus-pokus, or global warming as presently claimed, does not exist. Some global warming followers will have you believe that global warming makes the weather "act crazy". If true, then it is not really global warming, is it.
