Holy Quran is with words / teachings direct from Almighty Allah and Hadith is the words / teachings of Prophet Muhammed ( Peace be upon him) - The Holy Quran teachings were revealed / inspired through Muhammed (Pbuh) through the Angel Jebriel and through his dreams. Based on Holy Quran Prophet Muhammed ( Pbuh) has his own comments / teachings not separate from Holy Quran. This is known as Hadith.

Answer 1 Sunni view.

Hadith reflects prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) own sayings. Quran reflects God word revelations to prophet Muhammad through the angel Gabriel (or Jibril). Both Hadith and Quran are main sources of Islamic law (or Shariaa)

Answer 2 Shia view .

Koran is direct saying of God including concept and words revealed to Messenger of God. but Hadith saying of any of the fourteen infallibles based on his own divine knowledge. although both have same source of Knowledge (divine knowledge from God) but the words of Quran is from God but words of Hadith is by Messenger but its concept is from God.

Answer 3: Al Quranist view

The Quran is a complete revelation from God through Prophet to us. The Quran cannot be contested and It cannot be altered, due to the challenges that the Quran challenges us with if we doubt. That is to (1) see if you can find errors in this revelation; and (2) see if you or any forces besides Allah can produce a better scripture. This is the Quran.

AHadith on the other hand may contain errors; It is different people's accounts as to what the prophet said or did or what his companions said or did. Ahadith is clasified into different Hadeeth collections, bkuhari, Muslim, Tirmidi, etc, etc. They are also classified into weak and strong. Hadeeth were collected about more than 50 years after the prophet died.

If the hadith is authentic enough and reliable in the Rijal scholars' point of view then yes, any hadith that have been narrated from the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) or Imams or companions are considered as traditions or Sunna , but since both Shia and Sunni agree that there are dozens of fabricated and unreliable hadith even within the authentic resources, then one can not interpret just any hadith to be the Sunna. additionally it has been proved that there are many innovations in Islamic jurisprudence and laws entering Islam during the caliphate of 3 first caliphs so their acts or narrations can not be taken as the real Sunna because the Sunna is supposed to be the acts and words and life style of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and anything in contradiction with that shouldn't be considered as The Sunna.

The words Hadith and Sunnah have been used to mean the same thing. They can also be used to signify different but related things. A Hadith is considered a saying of Muhammad (peace be upon him). His sayings are part of what makes up the Sunnah. The Sunnah includes everything. His sayings (plural: Ahaadith), his actions, things that he approved or disapproved of, whether he said it or not.
