Humans need practice to learn skills,

but not all teachers seem to grasp that if it's boring it will turn people off.

It should be individualized for each student, but I've yet to see a school where that is done.

When discussing homework it is important to realize that the USA promotes copious amounts of homework for children, an early start in education and other "education is a task" approaches. The usefulness appears to be one of keeping teachers in control of education, turning children into obedient drones and workers and maintaining rh status quo.If homework were a good thing the USA would tromp places like Finland where children don't start school until they are 7 years old, have shorter school days and NO homework.

This is not the case - Finland is near the top in the international Pisa tests and the USA below the midpoint of scores for all countries participating in the tests.
