Corn contains corn gluten. Corn gluten does not contain Gliadin, which is what people with Celiac Disease are intolerant of.

If you have a corn allergy, then you have to stay away from corn, too.

Unfortunately, this is one of the most muddled areas of modern nutrition, with vague terms like "gluten" and vague ideas like "Allergies" flying around at random.

Corn gluten is not the same as wheat gluten. However, there are a growing number of celiac patients that have difficulty digesting corn, too.

Look at this 2005 study in the Journal Gut which shows that some celiac patients had an inflammatory reaction after eating corn gluten

In most cases celiac patients need to avoid corn, dairy, and soy during the healing stage. In some cases they will continue to avoid soy, dairy, and corn long after their intestinal villi have healed.

Celiac patients need to decide if corn gluten is safe to eat on an individual basis through a dietary trial.

yes. This is the biggest myth of all and I see it plastered all over the internet! ydrolyzed wheat, soy, oat proteins ARE gluten free. In the hydrolazation process, everything is removed BUT, the protein. There is no gluten. Hydrolyzed wheat protein is processed and then re-processed,so much that the offending gluten is removed through this process...thus, rendering it gluten free. IF there is any residual gluten it would be so far below what is considered safe for people with Celiac to CONSUME, ie. immeasurable trace.

Moreover, based on the research, should a Skin Care product contain gluten the gluten molecule is too big to pass transdermally. It may be absorbed through mucous membranes (inside the mouth, nose, etc) but not through skin.

When was the last time you ate a bottle of shampoo? Gluten ingredients are only a problem if ingested. I could rub a sandwich all over my face and it will be fine. There is no need to buy gluten free cosmetics, toothpaste, or any other toiletries because. There is no way you can eat enough to cause you to be sick! I promise! Talk to your dietician if your still worried, and you can find out in more detail from the Coeliac UK website.

But let me REPEAT: the hydrolyzed process REMOVES the gluten. Protein hydrolysis can be used to modify the allergenic properties of infant formula. The size of cow milk proteins in the formula and the milk becomes more suitable for consumption by babies suffering of Milk protein intolerance.

"Protein" is a generic term for an animal or plant tissue made out of individual proteins. These individual "proteins" are just long chains of amino acids linked together, end to end.
