The procedure is no different than common ones. It can be very difficult because you have to access the part from underneath after RH wheel and splash guard removed. The worse part is the room so tight (about half inch room). Make sure you have low profile socket tools.

How often is the serpentine belt on the 2002 Lexus gs300 changed?

Only as needed. The serpentine belts hold up well unless there is a problem with the belt tensioner or any of the driven accessories.

Why is your car squealing after having serpentine belt changed?

Possibly the wrong belt was installed or most likely your belt tensioner is bad.

How do you change the serpentine belt on a 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager 3.3L How do you loosen the tensioner?

15mm box end wrench 8-10 inch, put wrench on bolt not a lot of room and pull towards you it's easiest to pull belt and put back on at the idler pulley have changed many times not too difficult

How do you change the power steering belt of a 1994 Chrysler LeBaron?

The power steering is driven by the serpentine belt which must be changed by releasing the tensioner, located below the alternator. The only other belt is for the A/C compressor.

My 1997 Ford Escort ran yesterday and I changed the serpentine belt tensioner and the serpentine belt and the alternator and the car cranks and sparks and has gas so why won't my car start now?

Check that the CKP Crankshaft position sender wasn't knocked out of alignment when you put on the belt. It is at the 10 o'clock position.

When should you change serpentine belt on vw 2001 passat?

Check the serpentine belt for cracking and "checking" by a close visual examination. Look at the "inside" of the belt where it rides on the pulleys. The grooves should not be cracked, or missing ridges on the inside of the belt. Also, check the idler/tensioner pulley bearing for noise/wear. I changed mine when I replaced the spur ( timing ) drive belt and tensioner/idler pulley/shock absorber at 100,000mi. I also replaced the AC compressor drive belt and idler/tensioner pulley at that time.

How do you loosen the Tensioner for a serpentine belt in a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer?

, i also have 97 mountianeer, when i changed my alternator i couldn't figure out where the tensioner was. but i looked at the belt routing diagram located under the hood by the headlights and the tensioner is on bottom of the motor on the passenger side so you have to get it from the bottom, i hope that helps you. If it is the same tensioner style as the 2004, you can get it from the top using a 3/8" drive breaker bar inserted in the square hole by the pulley on the tensioner. I just replaced mine 2 days ago.

How do change the alternator belt on a 1997 sts caddilac?

The belt is changed by removing the tention off of the tentioner, take a 1/2" ratchet and place it in the square hole on the side of the tensioner. Push down on the ratchet (clockwise) and the tensioner will lift off of the serpentine belt allowing you to slip it off, then reverse the process with the new belt

Does a water pump in a ford contour cause a timing belt to break?

I change my water pump and replace the belt. I over tightened tensioner which actually loosened it after you get to a certain point. I didn't learn this until I changed it three times the belts kept shredding. The tensioner is offset slightly so be careful when tightening it and don't go all the way.

1996 gmc sierra with a 350 vortec you have a squeak with you thought was the serpentine belt So you changed it and it quit Then the next day it came back Could it be that a pulley is loose- off time?

you have to determine which pulley it is. if the sweak is consistent, it could be the tensioner, water pump, well these are the first to go. the serpentine doesnt control timing. and loose is a possibiity.

1989 f150 and am just wondering what could be causing a squealing from the engine I've already changed the serpentine belt and that helped a little but it stills does it when i step on the gas?

The squeal you speak of is belt related, yes; but it is not the belt. There is a belt tensioner ( the part you had to pull up to remove and replace the belt). Inside this tensioner, the bearing goes bad causing the squealing sound you describe. Replace the tensioner (pulley or assembly) and the noise will go away.
