I am 24 weeks pregnant and my baby doesn't move Is that normal?

The moving of your baby is usually very reassuring. It isn't unusual for a baby to have quiet times when there is not a lot of activity. It may help to lay on your side to notice if the baby is moving or if it is still. If you feel the baby is not as active as what seems normal, discuss it with your doctor. You can always visit your doctor to hear the baby's heartbeat, but in most instances, there is nothing to worry about. Good Luck, Stacey I am in my 5th month of pregnancy also,And it helps to lay on my back,or to lay on my side and just leave my hand on my stomach to catch its quick moves. While it may be normal in some cases I would just like to add that I was pregnant at four months my doc told me the baby was under weight and would be ok. At five months I hardley ever felt him move. At six month I had lost all my fluid and had him he only weighed one pound and almost did not make it he is healthy now. Just be very careful and make sure if you think something is not right go strait to your doctor.

∙ 18y agoBelieve me it is moving. You just may not feel it yet. With my first born, I felt him moving at 18 weeks. It felt like a butterfly moving its wings. This pregnancy I did not feel the baby move until about 22 weeks. I was scared to death something was wrong. Now I wish he/she would take a nap every once in a while so I could rest!

∙ 12y agoIt can be normal, but I would discuss your question with your doctor or midwife in the next few days. The most common reason for not feeling fetal movement is an anterior placenta (meaning in the front of the uterus). This can muffle movement quite a bit...especially if this is your first pregnancy.

∙ 15y agoWell, I think it would be a very bad thing if your baby was moving in your stomach, so be glad you don't feel movement in your stomach!!

I think its perfectly normal, im 19 weeks pregnant and was panicking because i hadnt felt the baby move yet, but about two nights ago it did move. I also heard that it can take up to 26 weeks until you feel your baby move, so dont panic yet.

Not normal but its ok. U might be farther along than that, or the baby might just be bigger. I showed early and had my baby 8lbs 9 1/2 oz at only 37 weeks! He was big! But that means healthy, so no worries :)
