No Thrush occurs when the oral bacterial balance in your mouth is out of whack, this can be caused by over using antibacterial or antimicrobial mouth washes too much. Tongue piercing aftercare is simple, cool stuff as much as possible as often as possible (that's freezies, slushies, crushed ice, chamomile ice cubes etc.). That doesn't include dairy products (milk, yogurt, sour cream, ice cream or any milk products) which tend to leave a coating on the tongue which can annoy a new piercing. Oral rinses like good old school Listerine, yep the awful tasting yellow stuff is perfect to use as a post piercing rinse. Here's why unlike antimicrobial and antibacterial rinses which can cause a oral malbalance, Listerine suppresses the bacterial and microbial counts evenly without throwing things for a loop. Besides you are only going to rinse after meals, between those periods just good old *cold water works wonders (*should do this after having a smoke). So now you know a bit more, Happy Piercings.
