Yes, but only up to a certain amount. I would only take one advil with one vicodin (or whatever the amount it is you take, if prescribed). Only take up to 3 advil a day and you should wait at least 6 hours or so (8 if you are very thin in weight) between taking them. You should also only take advil with vicodin for a few days, just enough to ease your pain. Any more than that may kill you or cause an accidental overdose depending on your height, weight, and age! So, Be Careful! Tylenol 500 are safe as well for 3 times a day with vicodin. Any other types of aspirin, I would ask a doctor. I know this well. I have had 5 kids and I had to do this every time. I weigh 141 normally so I am average. If you are smaller than me, you might want to stick to one or two until you know how it will affect you.

Yes they can, although I would not recommend it unless you are a cancer patient or have some kind of very severe pain. Advil is just a brand of ibuprofen (a Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). When you combine NSAIDs with opiates and acetaminophen (which is what vicodin is), it is efficient for this type of severe pain. If you have just a broken leg or arm or something, I wouldn't take them together (as the vicodin alone should do just fine). If you are dying from cancer, go ahead and go for it!

There are reasons you will want to discuss this with your doctor. There is a difference between the two and alternating may or may not accomplish what is intended. Ibuprofen reduces fever, aches and most importantly is an anti-inflammitory. Vicodin is designed to block some signals to the brain that will help reduce the feeling of pain. Vicodin also includes acetaminophen which addresses fever and aches to some extent but has no effect on inflammation. Ibuprofen can be very hard on the stomach and liver if taken in great excess, but it works on inflammation very well. If you have pain that is serious enough to require a narcotic like Vicodin, and you also have swelling associated with your pain, alternating the two scrips might keep you from taking too much of either drug. Just DON"T SELF MEDICATE. Let the doctor give you the OK first.

Can you take Dilaudid and Tylenol together?

Dilaudid (hydromorphone) is a strong opiate that does not contain Tylenol (acetaminophen). Therefore, you should be able to take it with Tylenol. However, medications that already contain acetaminophen (such as Vicodin, Percocet, and Norco) should NOT be taken with Tylenol. The reason for this is because an overdose of Tylenol can very likely cause damage to the liver.
