Best Answer

weight

It measures the magnitude of the gravitational force that attracts you toward the center of the Earth.

It's not necessary to measure the magnitude of the force that attracts the Earth

toward the center of you. Not only don't you care about that one, but we know

that it's exactly the same as the first one.

Bathroom scales measure your weight. Or really you should say it measures your mass. Hard to tell really! So anyways thanks for seeing my answer!

When standing on bathroom scale are you measure in mass or density?

Scales either measure mass, or weight - but they are callibrated to show mass (for example, kilograms).

How mass and weight measure?

Weight is the pull of gravity on a mass, it is measured in a gravity field using a weighing machine (bathroom scales are an example) Mass is an intrinsic property of matter, it is a measure of an object's resistance to acceleration (a change in its state of motion) when a force is applied.

Why weight don't effect the motion under gravity?

weight is a measure of the force between two masses, bathroom scales are a good example, multiply your mass in kg * 9.81 = force in newtons, if you are in freefall you are weightless

How are mass and weight measured?

Weight is the pull of gravity on a mass, it is measured in a gravity field using a weighing machine (bathroom scales are an example) Mass is an intrinsic property of matter, it is a measure of an object's resistance to acceleration (a change in its state of motion) when a force is applied.

What is an instrument for measuring mass?

Scales - depending on the size of the mass maybe 'balance scales' or 'bathroom scales' or 'kitchen scales'. Mass is the proper scientific word for 'weight'

When you stand on a bathroom scale what does it display the earth exerting on you?

Newer scales like digital and spring scales, measure the force your body exerts on the pad you're standing on, which is your weight. The scale then divides your weight by gravity to give you your mass.

How could you measure the force of gravity on the mass?

You could put the mass on a bathroom scale, weigh it, and then divide its weight by the acceleration of gravity.

What do mass balances do that weighing scales don't?

Mass balances compare the force of gravity on two masses, while weighing scales use a spring and measure the force of gravity by studying the extension of the spring. A mass balance would give the same answer on the Moon, while the weighing scales would give an answer about a sixth of the correct value.

What is a spring scales unit of measurement?

Spring scales measure the the weight of an object or a pulling force. The scientific unit used is the Newton, the unit of force. In day to day use, the units used are often pounds, kilos, ounces, grams. It should be noted that a spring scale does not measure mass. Mass is a measure of the amount of a substance or object where as the weight is the downward force applied to an object due to gravity. The spring scale only ever measures force, never mass.

How do kitchen scales measure?

Weight or mass.

What are spring scales use for?

To measure mass.

Are scales used to measure mass?

Scales are used to measure weight. With the proper calculations and knowing the volume, you can determine the mass.
