It is true that those who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) are not granted entrance to temples once they are dedicated (public tours are held before dedication). However, it is not 'elitist' Mormons who are allowed, anyone who has been baptized and lived the doctrines of the church for one year is granted entrance. This is because the temple is considered the House of God, and should not be polluted or defiled.
While Mormons do believe that temple ordinances are required for exaltation, you need to understand that exaltation is different than salvation. Baptism is required for salvation, and that can occur anywhere. Also, whenever a Mormon returns to the temple, they perform ordinances for those who have died without the opportunity - essentially, they want EVERYONE to have had the temple ordinances done for them. Mormons believe that the purpose of their existence is to provide a means of salvation and exaltation to all mankind, which is why they have such an aggressive missionary effort and perform baptisms and exalting temple ordinances in behalf of the dead.
P.S. also note that a Mormon Temple is not the same as a Mormon Church or Meetinghouse. Temples are closed to the public, but Mormon churches and worship services are open to everyone.

No. The beauty of Mormonism can be found in the fact that every single person who ever lived will be given the opportunity to enter the highest level of heaven; those who never married, those who never had the opportunity to hear the gopsel of Jesus Christ - everyone! That is what the Mormon temple is all about. Mormons believe that if they are not married in this life but live righteously, they can be sealed in the afterlife and still enjoy the blessings of exaltation. They also perform baptisms, endowments, and sealings for those who died without the opportunity. The Temple exists so that these ordinances might be performed for the deceased. Mormons believe that it is their duty to ensure that every child of God was given the opportunity to accept salvation and exaltation. This question is based on an incorrect supposition. Not all Mormons are liars; most Mormons are not liars.
The Mormon church started with Joseph Smith Jr. in the 1800s. It is considered a restoration of the church started by Jesus. The Catholic church started with Jesus in the year 33AD. Mormons believe that Jesus reveals his will via their President. Catholics believe that the pope is "infallible", eg. he cannot make a mistake, he is the successor of St. Peter, whom Jesus chose to lead the church after his death. Both churches have missionaries who have spread their respective faiths around the world. Mormons have more of an emphasis on missionary work than Catholics. Mormons believe in exaltation. Catholics believe you get "grace" from living a good life.
