No. In fact, nitrogen is commonly used to provide an inert atmosphere in which to work with highly reactive compounds.

Some nitrogen compounds are, however, highly explosive. One well-known example is trinitrotoluene, better known by the abbreviation TNT.

No, Nitrogen is not combustible.

There are some non-naturally occuring combinations which can, like Mg3N2 and NH3, but the nitrogen only supports the combustion while the other element actually combusts.

Why magnesium continues to burn in nitrogen although nitrogen is a non combustible gas?

Normally magnesium in liquid nitrogen (-196 deg Celsius) turns brittle and can be broken into pieces but when magnesium is fuse lit in liquid nitrogen it forms magnesium nitrate and burns rigorously with bright light. Mg + N2 = MgN2 + heat R . C Salvi rcsalvi@rediffmail.com
