Polyester is any long chain synthetic polymer, where 85% (of weight) of the polymer is an ester and therphthalic acid. Most polyestr made from polyethylene terephtalate. Properties varies depending on their composition web structuring and processing. Its the inexpensive fiber which brought reveloution in textile industry.

∙ 9y agoBoth polyester and polyamides have similar properties. Neither is necessarily stronger than the other; however, the polyester does perform better than the polyamide in certain applications. The most common polyamide is nylon, but silk and wool are also polyamides.

∙ 6y agoNo, polyester is both the name of the type of fiber and the polymer that this fiber is composed of, knit is a way fabric is made (e.g. polyester knit, wool knit, cotton knit) by interlocking loops of yarn with knitting needles or on a machine.
Polyester fabrics could also be woven instead of knitted.
