The college or university will set the requirements for a degree. A degree will require classes in more than one area and must cover the basics in order to meet the certification and accreditation standards. English, mathematics, some sciences and history are pretty much required at all schools. There isn't a school out there that offers 130 credit hours of Photography classes. They will probably also require art and music classes as well.
Besides the obvious Photography class, I, personally, would take art. They both require creativity and, with some pictures, a good handle on geometric shapes and the like. Art -- hell, probably just Art 1 -- would probably be a good idea.
lighting classes are the most important ********************************************************** Business classes are most important. It doesn't matter how good a photographer you are if you don't sell any photos.
You can go to a short course at a tafe or college, or you can read books and practice.
The course will be more expensive and the books won't be, but you can get more practice either way you go.
