As a child in Buffalo New York, in my teens and 20's, I watched as alot of the major companies moved to Canada and elsewhere. These were companies that my family including my grandparents and great grandparents had worked for.
Buffalo is almost a graveyard now full of crime. A lot of my generation has moved and never come back. There is no work to keep them there.
There are only a few names like Rich Foods and Niagara Chocolates left.
Hershey was founded by American ingenuity and know-how. It is a part of our history and culture and it should stay here.
There is a significant move by Hershey from the United States to Mexico in what the company calls a "global supply-chain transformation." Not all the operations are making the move but according to a June, 2007 article in the Los Angeles Times about 3,000 of the company's 13,000 employees will be cut.
About 900 workers are to lose their jobs in the company's home town of Hershey, Pennsylvania and the Hershey plant in Oakdale, California, is closing down. Operations there are being moved to Monterrey, Mexico.

Congratulations Hershey. You have just joined the ranks of all too many other companies without the sense to realize what they're doing to the next generations of Americans. I am ashamed for you , as you obviously don't have the integrity to feel that way for yourself. I have just thrown away every Hershey product in my home and even after enjoying your prodects my whole life, I will never...ever purchase another Hershey product. Wake up America...boycott companies like this. There are thousands of chocolatiers, with frankly a better product, worthy of your buying dollars.
