Yes, the mantle is techincally a solid. If you want to get techincal, however, it is a viscoelastic material, meaning that over short invertvals it behaves as an elastic solid, but over the course of tens of thousands to millions of years it flows like a viscous liquid.

∙ 7y agoNo. While much of the mantle is hot enough that the rock would melt if exposed to the surface, the enormous pressure keeps in a state that is technically considered solid. Unlike the rigid rock of the crust and uppermost mantle, most mantle rock is plastic in texture, meaning it is soft and easily deformed.
