Not as men apply it to refer to another man in a "religious" capacity, as some men label certain leaders of certain professing Christian denominations [i.e. Reverend Jones or Reverend Brown, etc.].

Just as Jesus tells us not to refer to any man as "Father" in this same religious sense [Matt.23:9] -- one's physical father, excepted -- the religious use of "father" in reference to a man is a blasphemy against the name of His Father in heaven. So should men also not use any of the "other" names of God in religious reference to other men for this same reason.

The names, "Holy" and "Reverend" are also biblically stated names of the Father in heaven, among others:

"...Holy and Reverend is His name." (Ps.111:9)

So, the title "Reverend" as applied in a religious capacity to a man isn't based on Bible teaching. It's not authorized by God. It's a blasphemy against God and a direct disregard for the command of Jesus Christ. Just as the religious reference to a man as "Father"... or "Holy Father" also is blasphemy of the highest order.

The names "Holy" and "Reverend," however, are in The Bible... and are declared as two of the Father's many biblical names not to be blasphemed. They are "Bible-based" when referring to Him.

Are there Reverends in the Catholic church?

Yes the formal title for all ordained COGIC clergy is Reverend. For example an elder would be formally called "The Reverend" while a Bishop formally will be referred to as "The Right Reverend" when used this replaces the informal title of Elder or Bishop. (i.e. Elder John Smith would formally be The Reverend John Smith and Bishop John Smith would be, The Right Reverend John Smith) Normally, formal titles are reserved for formal events; however, it is up to the Elder or Bishops personal discretion with regards to use. We must note, that a Minister is not considered "Ordained Clergy" within the COGIC. Therefore the title Reverend or Elder will not apply.

Can you put reverend into a sentence?

Hello, I am Reverend Kenneth Kautz and I just put the word, or title, reverend in a sentence. If you see me walking down the street sometime, you could say you saw a reverend walking down the street. An archbishop of a church is The Most Reverend. As far as etymology, reverend may mean respected, but is more than often referring to an ordained clergyperson.
