Horses come in many different breeds and a huge variety of colors and patterns. There are three or four different variations of chestnut, bay, grey, roan, palomino, ect. There are dun, grulla and buckskin. These are just a few of the many different colors that horses come in. The genetics to produce some of these coat colors is complicated even for experts. But it is always fun and fascinating to study horse colors.

Yes, in fact one horse had a split colour eye with blue and brown in one eye.
Yes, this is quite possible and not very rare actually.
Piebald is not really a color it is an effect. It is a mixture of blotches or patches of different colors, especially of black and white. The term is most often used in describing the colors) of a horse. The horse would be described as piebald if his colors were mottled; if his colors were patchy he would be called a pinto.
No the horse(s) that played Secretariat are chestnut. Whilst Joey is a bay, two different colors. But one of the horses in War Horse did play Seabiscuit.
There are only two basic horse colors - black and chestnut. All other colors are derived from these two colors.
A horse with wings. A pegasus is a horse that basically just has wings like an angel. Also pegasus can come in several different colors and have patterns just like a normal horse.

The horse of a different color was a character in The Wizard of Oz. It was a horse that continually changed colors. This is the most famous instance of that phrase being used, and it was an early film, but surely the phrase existed before than and was probably spoken in earlier films.
