It has long been recognized that many biblical passages refer clearly either to the trinity or to aspects of it. The oneness of God, together with the deity of Jesus Christ are taught repeatedly in scripture. There are a number of other doctrines or teachings in scripture, which, while clearly taught in scripture, either explicitly, or in principle, were not given prominence until a later date. Thus, it is rather irrelevant that some contend that the doctrine of the trinity was a creation of a later date when it is so clearly scriptural.

The formulations of the Council of Nicea are also probably irrelevant to the actual existence of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity exists and has always existed from before the creation of the tri-universe of space, time and matter. Such a universe, reflective of the essence of the trinity, was also created as God, in His triunity said 'Let us...' He did not need to wait for any council of man but took His own creative and totally self-directed council. God is the creator, man, made in His image, is merely an 'explainer' after the fact.

Nicea was merely a restatement of what was always taught in scripture. The scripture, as an expression, or outworking of God's will, reveals the details of the divine essence. Such revelation, if it means anything at all is either in accord with God's will or else it means nothing.

Most Christians believe implicitly that the Holy Trinity is real. However, apart from questions about whether even God is real, there is no biblical support for the Trinity, apart from 1 John 5:7-8 (the Comma Johanneum) considered by most scholars to a Latin corruption introduced in the fifth century to help justify the doctrine of Trinity.

Most Christian denominations teach that the Holy Trinity is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit), three in one God. So, to a Christian there is a Holy Trinity. However, the Holy Trinity is not referred to in The Bible. The concept of the Holy Trinity was adopted following the Council of Nicaea, held in 325 CE. Some would say that the Holy Trinity was a theological creation made necessary in the fourth century by the widespread popularity of Arianism.

The doctrine of the Trinity can be summed up as someone believing in one God existing as three distinct but equal persons. The term does not appear anywhere in the Scripture. It was first used by Tertullian near the end of the 2nd century and made 'more clear' in the 4th and 5th century - so it was the desired goal.

However, no theologian has given explanations of the Trinity doctrine so as it becomes clear for the average person to grasp. Many have written quite the opposite as A.W. Tozer, in his work 'The Knowledge of the Holy, states that the Trinity is an "incomprehensible mystery" and that attempts to understand it "must remain forever futile." Later in his book, he admits that churches, "without pretending to understand," have nevertheless continued to teach this doctrine (1961, pp.17-18). There are many more quotes siding with this opinion.

As many believe the Bible to be our only reliable source of divine revelation, this Trinity subject is not taught. And no matter how hard or long some people try, they cannot prove or explain something from the Bible that is not biblical. The 'majestic plural' name for God in Genesis' 'Let Us' (Elohim in Hebrew) is defined by allowing the Bible to (see below) - as currently only two divine players with the Father Supreme:

John 1:1-3New International Version (NIV) The Word Became Flesh1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

The only reference to the Holy Trinity in modern Bibles is in the Johannine Comma' (1 John 5:7, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one"), but this is not original to the epistle. It appeared in the Latin manuscripts written from the fifth century onwards, and in somewhat later Greek translations, thereby providing some biblical support for the concept of the Holy Trinity.
