As far as I know, there is no train that stops in Columbus, Ohio (I live here)... but you can check amtrak.com to see where the nearest stop would be, and that will also give you a time estimate.

scheduled time from Penn Station

NYC - Chesapeake 14½+ Hours (Huntington, WV)

NYC - South Point 15+ Hours (Kenova, WV)

NYC - Portsmouth 16 Hours (South Shore, KY)

NYC - Aberdeen 17 Hours (Maysville KY)

NYC - Cincinnati 18½ hours (20 hours real time in my experience.)

NYC - Fairfield / Hamilton (NO LONGER SCHEDULED)

Route known as "The Cardinal" takes you from NYC-Washington DC-Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky along the Ohio river crossing the Ohio at Covington into Cincinnati.

The train from NYC to the I90 corridor along New York and Ohio (Cleveland, Lorain, Toledo)

Route: NYC-Albany NY-Buffalo, NY-Chicago

Scheduled time from Penn Station

NYC - Cleveland 12 hours

NYC - Elyria 12½ hours

NYC - Sandusky 13+ hours

NYC - Toledo 14+ hours

NYC - Bryan 15½ hours

.

NYC - Canton 13½ hours

New York to Canton requires a train along the NE Corridor (NYC to Washington) when you then board the Capitol Limited that follows the I 76 corridor all the way to Cleveland, then continues on to Chicago stopping at Elyria, Sanduski and Toledo, but not Bryan, Ohio.

There is currently no rail service to Dayton, Columbus or other cities on the I-70 corridor or I 75 corridor like Middletown, Hamilton, Lima and once again, Dayton.

A Cleveland-Columbus-Dayton-Cincinnati train line with limited stops at smaller cities along the way (Hamilton, Middletown, Springfield, Mansfield) is proposed but it is only in the planning stages and will not be operational for many years to come if at all
