Is there any nation on earth that could actually put up a fight with the US?

The only two countries that could bye themselves take down the US is China and maybe Russia. But Russia wouldn't have too much of a chance.

China could but the questions is why would they? they may not like everything we do but we have a lot of major trade going on with them. if they decided to cut off trade w/ the US, then we would both be in trouble.

When the Soviet Union fell, it went through devolution. basically the market was moved from the governments hands to private investors so the people could have the basic rights you think of when for trade(shopping/selling). in Russia's case most of the "private" investors were Mafia members. this has divided up the country so much it was almost (in a few regards) better under the soviet union. (i learned about this just recently in a geography class and i was rather surprised cause thought that anything had to be better then communism.)

basically the only way they might be able to beat us is because of their weapon's industry. besides most of the population is poor (The GDP overall is good, but the per capita GDP is bad), the number of people in the country is going down. (India has more people in it even though Russia is bigger)
