It can be quite lethal depending on the strain and various health factors. It is a serious illness, but can be treatable (once again, depending on the strain of tuberculosis involved and other factors). It can also lie dormant, in spore form, in the lungs for long periods of time causing little to no harm, it can even stay like that for the rest of a person's life. Some people may even have it without having symptoms.
